Graduation Dress and Conduct FAQs:

  • Graduation is a formal ceremony not casual and crazy.

  • Students, the graduation ceremony is for your parents and grandparents not about you.

  • It is time to celebrate as a group and stand out but as a member of the class.

  • Dress nicely! Wear school cords and stoles! Wear one lei or cultural stole.

  • Celebrate, but do not decorate your cap, or wear any flag or cape.

  • No artificial noisemakers are allowed—horns, whistles, etc.

  • No tickets are required to gain entrance into the graduation ceremony. All family members are welcome.

  • Be at the Dee Events Center early and expect traffic delays. Students need to arrive by 8:15 AM to line up and prepare for seating.

  • A name card will be provided to the graduating students upon arrival. Students will write their name on the card like they want the teacher to read it.

  • Students will keep their caps and gowns.

  • Take your gowns out of the package as soon as possible and hang them up to minimize wrinkling. Note that they might melt with a hot iron. Be careful!

  • Do not decorate your caps or throw them.

  • You will receive your diploma cover during the ceremony and your diploma at the end of your ceremony outside by the exit.

  • The graduation will be streamed here: STREAM GRADUATION LIVE HERE.

Being Cleared for Graduation FAQs:

  • See your counselor to pick up your “Golden Ticket” and have it stamped so that you are cleared to walk for graduation.

  • On Wednesday, May 14, caps and gowns and cords will be available in the BHS Fieldhouse lunch for those who turn in a cleared (stamped) Golden Ticket. If you do not pick up your cap and gown then, you may pick them up later from your counselor.

  • For those needing to recover credit, Administration will be available to proctor your tests on Wednesday, May 14th from 7:30 to 9:30 AM. Bring your charged devices and your charging cord. You can use notes on your cumulative exam.

  • Note that students receiving a 24-credit diploma (State Diploma) do not attend the graduation ceremony and pick up their diploma. They pick up their diploma and cover the day after on Friday, May 23 in the BHS Counseling Center.

  • If you have any questions, please contact the Counseling Office at 801-402-3916.
