We are fortunate to have amazing educators like Karleen Johnson. As a third grade teacher, Johnson has made a lasting impact on students and staff. When she first joined the Clinton Cougar community, she had no idea just how meaningful the school would become to her.
"I was very fortunate to get hired to teach at Clinton Elementary,” Johnson said.
“What I didn't know when I got hired was that it would become my 'home away from home.' Through the years I have been able to call many coworkers my friends. Clinton has always been a very welcoming place."
Johnson’s dedication to her students extends well beyond the school year. One of her favorite memories as a teacher came unexpectedly during the summer.
"One of my past students, who was then a teenager, was there with his friends,” she said. “When he saw me, he ran up and gave me a hug. It made my day!"
For Johnson, teaching is about more than academics.
"I love working one on one with my students and helping them tackle the difficult assignments,” she said. “I love helping them find their confidence."
At the heart of her classroom is a strong sense of care and safety.
