Students in explosive disposal protective gear

Sunset Junior High seventh graders recently got a rare, up-close look at one of the Air Force’s most specialized career fields. Airmen from Hill Air Force Base’s 775th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Flight visited the school, giving students a hands-on introduction to how they detect, evaluate, and neutralize explosive hazards.

The visit is part of Davis School District’s college and career awareness curriculum, designed to expose students to as many real-world paths as possible.

During the demonstration, the EOD team showed the advanced robots, protective gear, and teamwork used in their missions. They also shared how they work with first responders, train with international partners, and clear dangerous ordnance on the Utah Test and Training Range.

For students, it was a chance to see the skills, technology, and real-world problem-solving behind a career that keeps communities safe—and to imagine the possibilities ahead.
